TONE OF VOICE ORCHESTRA (TOVO) is a new ebullient powerhouse of a band. I co-lead TOVO with my long time musical collaborator and award winning Jazz saxophonist Fredrik Lundin. NEW ALBUM. We are thrilled to announce that inspite of covid related disruption of all our plans, we managed to record an album. We don’t have an actual release date, but probably febr./march 2022 it will happen 🙂
TOVO features musicians from the Danish folk-, world-, jazz-, and indiepop-scenes. 4 singers, violin, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, cittern, saxophones, 2 drummers and double bass. 5 women and 5 men. With this unorthodox line-up we mix the sound of Scandinavian roots with global genres, and blend catchy melodies with improvised solo sections.
The songs are written by Fredrik Lundin and myself singer-songwriter Trinelise Væring. We are inspired by the vocal traditions of Eastern Europe, our Scandinavian folk & roots, a number of indie and alterntive folk bands, harmonized americana and several global genres.
Line up: Tone of Voice Orchestra are: Anie Rybacka, Maria Kynne, Tine Refsgaard and Trinelise Væring, – vocals. Emma Kragh-Elmøe – violin. Christian Mohr Levinsen – hurdy-gurdy, bagpibe, cittern. Fredrik Lundin – saxes and bass flute, Joel Illerhag – double bass. Jesper Uno Kofoed and Anders Provis – drums and percussion. All these different musical voices meet in a common language of our own.
